ABOUT
I am Alejandra Epifani, an industrial designer specialized in the creation of objects. In 2012, after some time away from design, I rediscovered my creative life through recycling. This process led me to found Cartonpia, where I transform discarded paper and cardboard into unique handmade jewelry. In my workshop, I focus on the simplicity of design and the artisanal footprint, creating exclusive pieces.
PHILOSOPHY
Cartonpia was born in 2012, with recycling and ecology on the rise. Rescuing papers and cartons, in a self-taught way, I developed an ethical and sustainable jewelry. A metamorphosis from the fragile to the eternal. Thus, the basis of my workshop is the creation of unique jewelry with an artisanal footprint, the transformation of discarded materials into luxury jewelry. This is how this adventure continues, with my family, near almond trees and sheep, in my sustainable jewelry workshop in Mallorca.
ORIGIN OF THE MATERIAL
I recover unused paper. Whether it is cardboard, newspapers, magazines, food boxes, kraft paper, corrugated cardboard, old books, calendars, maps and more…
SINGULARITIES
The pieces become intensely colorful, very resistant to wear and very light weight. The color comes from the dye of the paper, the text or images printed on it, and the combinations of layers result in visual blends or vibrant lines of colors. Each piece is very resistant to humidity, they are carefully protected with an insoluble varnish. Even so, it is advisable not to immerse them and, in case they get wet, it is advisable to dry them.
ETHICAL COMMITMENTS
Each jewel is unique, handmade one by one. Perfection in tactile, visual and hardness quality is always pursued. Ecological and biodegradable materials are used whenever feasible. Handcrafted design with recycled materials.
ARTISAN FOOTPRINT
Cartonpia wants to revalue craftsmanship, understood as the entire process of design and manufacture, completely by hand. With passion and delicacy, unrepeatable in every gesture. Paper jewelry, full of time, heart and mind of a craftswoman, who transmits her emotions in the process… filling each piece with its own identity.
